Barbara Biscotti

Barbara Biscotti was born in Milan, where she still lives and works. Master’s degree in Law (University of Milan), PhD in Roman Law and Antiquity’s Laws (University of Padua), she is actually Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where she holds the Chairs of Institutions of Roman Law and History of Roman Law.

After discovering yoga at the age of 14 and practising it only occasionally, she began practising regularly in 2002, and in 2012 qualified from Claudio Conte’s SFIDY (Yoga Teacher Training School), studying under Nil Hahoutoff and Patrick Tomatis method.

From 2009 to the present, whilst continuing to further her training at other schools (Yoga Ratna and Doctor Bhole), she has been teaching yoga on a regular basis, as well as leading seminars at teacher training colleges and on University Master’s programmes (Ca’ Foscari, Venice, and University of Pisa).

She is currently serving her third term as Vice-President of YANI (National Association of Yoga Teachers). In this role, she has been responsible for the promotion, drafting and publication of the UNI technical qualification standard for the professional role of yoga teachers (2016).

In 2017, she edited, together with the then President of YANI (Stefano Castelli), a 38-volumes series entitled «Yoga: Theory and Practice», published by Italy’s leading daily newspaper, Corriere della Sera (2 reprints).

She is the author of numerous essays and books on history, ranging from academic to popular works, as well as articles and books on yoga.
