
Effects of yoga nidra on sleep – Veronika Miškech Fričová
In this talk the results of a small-scale study exploring the effects of Yoga Nidra on sleep will be presented. Conducted in Slovakia in autumn 2024, this research examined the impact of Yoga Nidra on sleep latency, sleep quality, dreaming, and hence overall well-being. Feedback from seven participants who practised a specially designed Yoga Nidra sequence for 14 consecutive nights before sleep will be discussed. Various definitions of Yoga Nidra, its roots and history as well as the science of sleep will also be explored.
There will be time for discussion, questions, and sharing personal experiences with Yoga Nidra as well as a nurturing 20-minute Yoga Nidra practice.
Veronika has been practising yoga for 18 years. In 2016, she completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Nepal under the guidance of Dr. Chintamani Gauram, and then in 2025 the third level (300-hour RYS) of Yoga Instructor Training with the Slovak Yoga Association, led by Gejza M. Timčák. She has also specialised in prenatal yoga and children’s yoga.
