Workshop in English
A lively Chair Yoga class, where the yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. The class will include a variety of sequences and movements developed to help develop and maintain functional fitness traits (that are challenged as we age) such as range of motion, strength, balance and aerobic fitness, also including breath awareness techniques and a relaxation.
Daisy has been practicing yoga for over 25 years. She was first introduced to yoga as a teenager when attending a yoga class taught by Marlene Ffrench Mullen in Dublin, leading to her training as a yoga teacher with the Irish Yoga Association (IYA), qualifying in 2017.
Daisy teaches yoga in her local community and more recently on-line, and has a particular interest in teaching Chair Yoga, with the intention of making yoga more accessible across all ages and abilities. Many who attend her Chair Yoga class are discovering the many benefits of yoga for the first time in their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, proving that it is never too late to start something new, and create new patterns of movement and breath awareness, benefitting all levels of our being.
Daisy continues her learning and experience of yoga through the many courses run by the IYA for Continuous Professional Development across a range of topics, including Mantra (Shantala Sriramaiah and Anuradha Choudry), Philosophy (Sraddhalu Ranade and Vinayachandra BK), and Yoga for Mental Health (Sannyasi Bijam – Dr Jenni Connaughton).
Daisy has developed her own style of teaching Chair Yoga, but would like to acknowledge the contribution from Sherry Zak Morris, Yoga Therapist, who specialises in Chair Yoga for Seniors, to helping her develop her teaching style for this type of yoga.
