Yoga and Mental Health – Atul Mulji
The more people refine their lifestyle, the more it seems they dwell in the mind and less in the body, which creates an imbalance in the overall human system, raising levels of stress, anxiety, depression, etc. We have, fortunately, been given a holistic science to deal with all kinds of mental issues and that is the ancient science of yoga.
This is what we will look at in this seminar, discussing how we can effectively use the various yogic tools – especially pranayama and meditation – to deal with such issues and regain mental balance.
Atul Mulji was born in Mozambique, and have been living in Portugal for over 36 years, but his contact with yoga began way back as a 15-year old living in India. After abandoning a career in telecommunications, he decided to follow his heart and share the age-old science of Yoga door-to-door around the world. His quest for freedom took him to various schools, institutions and gurus, each one helping to deepen his practice and the methods used. Atul followed Sivananda Yoga teacher training in England in 2000, and complemented his search with holistic therapies, mainly through Ayurvedic and Thai massage, both linked by the same philosophy. He continues his mission by teaching courses, retreats and workshops to which he is invited all over the world. He has twice been invited to share some of his findings at the Zinal yoga congress as a delegate of the Potuguese Yoga Federation FPY.
He has published two books, the first on Mudras – the sacred gestures – the other on Pranayama – the sacred breath. E-mail: atul.mulji@gmail.com
